Where I’ve been…

Jeff Balerno has been playing music in various bands for over 40 years. In the 80’s and 90’s he gigged in New Jersey with a classic rock band called the Poorboys and a top 40’s band called Double Standard respectively.

After moving to the Saranac Lake, NY area in 2000, Jeff teamed
up with a group of seasoned local musicians in a band called Backspin. They performed at all the popular venues in the area for over 10 years and were a staple at Winter Carnival. After Backspin disbanded, he became a founding member of the band Legend, continuing to perform at local venues for many more years.

As Covid put a damper on local band venues Jeff decided to pursue a solo acoustic career. This turned out to be a great decision and game-changer. He has extensive experience performing his acoustic act in the Saranac Lake -Lake Placid area including many local pubs, microbrews, hotels, restaurants, and private events as well.

About the musician

Where I am now…

A recently retired Forest Ranger, Jeff carries with him a treasure trove of experiences from his time in the Adirondacks and Northern New York—stories of nature, community, and the spirit of adventure. More recently he has relocated to the Saratoga Springs area and is looking forward to bringing his sound to the many venues located there.

As far as a musical genre, Jeff draws on his musical experiences over the years and describes it as an eclectic cover mix of acoustic classic rock,
country, and singer-songwriter hits from the 60’s to the present.

He also incorporates a vocal harmonizer and a loop pedal which allows him to add layers of vocal harmonies and guitar solos to his performance. Having compiled a large volume of song material allows Jeff to adapt his
sets to any atmosphere from soft dinner music to fun Happy hour party time.

When he’s not on stage, Jeff is a devoted husband, proud father, and lifelong dog lover. His passion for the outdoors runs deep—carved from years spent hiking mountain trails, skiing through winter woods, and boating along the region’s beautiful lakes.

Jeff samples from Classic Rock, Country, Alternative, Folk, and even some more modern Stomp & Holler. He has 3-4 hour sets to cover each of the genres above, or he can mix and match from multiple styles.
